Cori, late reply, sorry!! I am definitely a coffee drinker...but not to the mania of my youth! Now it just makes me pee...and that can be problmatic unless I am near a restroom, so I cannot guzzle the stuff anymore! Love the owlet with the big eyes, "I think it is kicking in..." I can certainly relate to drinking coffee at Dennys , in my high school days...yacking and drinking the dark roast with cream! I am so old , I still remember my Dad's percolator coffee maker! There is a comfort to the rhythmic sound of a percolator....the '"ploop-ploop-ploop" of the liquid rising up the basket stem and hitting the little glass piece in the lid. I kind of like the old way, as it took a bit longer but the wonderful smell of freshly brewing coffee filled the house and the sound was part of the magic! Thanks for coffee memories!! Wendy
Thank you for sharing your story in the comments! I love the smell too and frankly you don’t get it with cold brew. I enjoy just the one large serving in the mornings because caffeine makes me unbearably focused (demanding). Lol. We’ll talk soon about the stuff I DMd about.
Disclosure: I am more a tea drinker. But as you probably know, all the proper tea goes to the British Isles, and sadly everyone else gets the absolute cr*p!! :)
Having said that, I will tell my missus about the cold brew thing, as she loves coffee! Those instructions were interpreted by my male brain as:
1)pour some ground coffee into a jug thing.
2)Add, I dunno, about a pint of cold water, whatever looks right.
3)Stir it. Stir it again. Slam it in the fridge and forget about it.
4)When you remember it, take it out and pour it into another jug thing, whatever you have around. Oh, and use a cloth or probably a handkerchief from your pocket is fine.
5)Put some ice in a glass, pour some sludge in, add some more water if you like, or some Jack D, if it's handy, to taste.
That looks perfect. Thanks for the instructions! :) :)
The too late/too early meme chimed with me .Not because coffee ,but I often start the day with the second thought LOL!
Great idea mixing a practical theme with appropriate memery, I have to say. Are you that sweary in real life ??!. Clearly not a woman to be trifled with!!
(btw I tried to give you a credit on a note for getting me writing up my latest post, but I am not a whizz here so apologies if you didn't get a ping!)
Lol. I’ll look for your ping. She doesn’t have to drink it cold. It’s just brewed cold which blooms the coffee grounds differently making less acidic, less bitter, smoother coffee. Like top shelf adult beverages. I included my measurements after screwing it up a few times so no trial and error is necessary. It keeps for 2 weeks. Good luck!
Thanks. Mrs L&S hasn’t got much patience with anything like that, so I suspect a failed experiment will be the result. I’ll get back to you :) . The ping was just to point anyone at your woodland mushrump adventures and so on, as I was on an outdoors theme there. Not important really.
I’ll do cold brew at Dunkin (or ugh Starbucks if it’s necessary). In reality, I can do hot, iced, cold brew, latte, Americano, decaf, you name it !
And every time I do cold (iced or cold brew), I can only think of my mom who used to get teased because she’d never waste and have the morning leftovers at 7:00 at night sometimes, occasionally rewarmed but definitely stale !
Honestly, I don’t care what it’s made in. I’m do get a little miffed, however, at the coffee shoppes that have the clover brewed single served instead of a real brewing. It has same taste no matter where it is, what grind it is and has that silly froth on the top. I’m happy with my Keurig or Cuisinart brewer as long as the coffee in it is a good brand, a good blend. My go to now (and for a long time, actually)is Gevalia Signature Blend. Oh yum !
I’ll try that Gevalia next time! I don’t waste anything either or I’m disgusted if I do. Lol from growing up without. Iced coffee and cold brew are different. Cold brew is brewed without heat. Both hot and cold brew can be served over ice. I think it’s confusing so I had to sort it all out. Lol. Happy drinking!
I drank some cold brew a while back. It was premade. When I came down a couple of days later, 8 decided its probably not for me, lol. I'll stick with your basic hot coffee, some heavy whipping cream, and some hazelnut flavoring. 😄
Lol. Once you do you will love it. An easy comparison is sun tea. While my cold batch of coffee is brewing it sits out on the counter at room temp. When it’s done it goes in fridge only so it won’t spoil. Cold brewing ‘blooms the grounds’ differently than hot brewing. Cold bloom is less acid, no bitterness so it’s very smooth. Like good champagne🤭
I’m retarded about the cold brew deal. Do you drink the shit cold? Back in the commercial fishing days we boiled two quarts of water on the galley stove, poured a couple cups of folgers in it, stirred for a minute and poured it through a standard kitchen strainer into the serving pot. Put a cup of cold water into it to settle the fine grounds to the bottom and tried not to end up with the last couple of cups of that mud.
Lol that’s about how I started. I heat the coffee in the microwave to drink it and sometimes drink it over ice. It’s MUCH smoother MUCH than hot brewed coffee. It’s like the diff between rot gut whiskey and top shelf bourbon. Night and day! I used to hate cold coffee but now I love it in the summer like iced tea.
This post speaks to me. I tried to make cold brew sometime last year and it was a disaster! I don't even remember what recipe I used, but I didn't even try to do the math. I'm not good with following directions, either, which might also have been a problem. Maybe I'll have my husband look over this for me...
Sent to my hubby. He’s the coffee drinker here. I can’t have caffeine anymore. I will sometimes have decaf but the tiny amount of caffeine will keep me awake if I have it after 3pm.

Thanks, Cori, blessings!
Great notes on the cold brew journey. I’m just sad that I knew the first pitcher was Pampered Chef.

I can be sweary but not all the time. Frustrations about math called for it this time.
Yeah, that’ll do it , I guess ! Catharsis is a nice, euphemistic way of describing it..
Lol. I’ll look for your ping. She doesn’t have to drink it cold. It’s just brewed cold which blooms the coffee grounds differently making less acidic, less bitter, smoother coffee. If you tag me I see it if not chances are I won’t see it. Thank you just the same. I appreciate the boost.
I thought I had, but anyway, no problem.
I guzzled an entire coffee while I read this. It wasn't cold tho. bummer.
Weirdo hot coffee drinker, huh? Ida never thunk it. Thanks for reading and restacking.✌️🐝
Awesome referesher, Cori. I haven't made cold brew like this in decades. The memes are strong in this post - like cold brew concentrate strong. :)
Lol Thank you, Neil. Everyone likes it strong so I guess that works out. I hope you enjoy getting back into it! Have fun.

Actually, I think cold brew is a little stronger with a bolder taste. It’s good stuff, but I need to be in the mood for it.

Yum I love the sound of all that! I drink my coffee hot. I just don’t brew it with heat🤪✨🤭
I guess I need to study up on cold brew-I just don’t get it.
The post was meant to be a funny disaster about the math involved but it sounds like I could have explained some of the differences on the bloom. Lol
Yes, well, math and I never had a great relationship anyway. 😂

Try my method and have approx 14 oz a day. My latest is looking amazing!
I will. I am sending it to my husband now.

I had that problem when I started drinking coffee but if I don’t have it past noon I’m good. Thank you for sharing it!❤️🍄
Ron abd too late for coffee/too early for alcohol 😁
I love ALL things Ron Swanson.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Thanks sis. CanNOT wait to see you this weren’t!!!
