Undiagnosed diabetes is the greatest cause of kidney failure. Insulin resistance (hyperinsulinemia) is the primary culprit, and they won’t order a fasting insulin test. Most doctors will tell you everything is great until you crank out an A1C that signals full on diabetes, then they tell you it’s not reversible and pull out the prescription pad. It’s utter bullshit. High insulin and A1C levels at the “pre-diabetic” stage are already killing kidneys and coronary arteries. It IS reversible with ultra low carb diet.

Glad you found answers! I have CKD too but because I'm not overweight or have high BP or cholesterol there's not much to do but "keep an eye on my numbers." It's appalling. Doctors don't know how to prevent, only treat.

People really have to self advocate and do their own research.
