"In that tomb on that first Easter morning, I wonder if life to returned to Christ in the same way. A slow spreading of blooming color, imbuing life into the lifeless, bit by bit, until both body and tomb and the very air became saturated with His radiance and essence. The tomb, bursting with life and hope, could no longer contain His glory, and was soon as empty as an eggshell on so many Easter mornings to come."
I realize I've never given thought to how life was restored to our Lord, and this, right here, makes perfect sense in my soul. Just beautiful. <3
Thank you, Krissy! We had a great time putting this together. I really do like to think that is how it happened, I’m so glad it resonated with you, too! What a beautiful moment it must have been.
This line was great — “I don’t believe I’m yearning for the past so much as acknowledging that the me who had that moment was perfect for it and the me who enjoys my current life is perfect for it too.” — that totally resonated with me.
And funnily enough, I am also very fond of black jelly beans.
Also, your Artwork is beautiful Jenn!
Such relatable and nostalgic reflections on your Easter celebrations both of you.
I agree. Cori put that feeling into words just perfectly. Thank you for the kind words about my art, and I never imagined so many people liked black jelly beans.
This was a fun read.i kind of forgot about some Easter traditions. The egg colorings and hunts. How about blessing of baskets on Holy Saturday or Stations of the cross during Holy Week (I was an altar boy, what can I say 🤷♂️☺️). Easter dinner was at my aunt’s house for years. Always looked forward to her blueberry tourt.
Sounds like you’ve got some lovely memories, too. Blueberry tourt sounds like the essence of spring. Thank you for your kind comment and for sharing your memories and traditions!
I enjoyed reading your recollections. The dyeing chicks things is just horrendous though, glad the trend never came to the UK! 😳My son is allergic to eggs so that means we could never do the things I did as a child - removing the centre and painting the shells. I also remember making ‘Easter nests’ with shredded wheat cereal and mini eggs on top. Making Easter bonnets too.
Those sound like such fun traditions, Julie. Having a child with an egg allergy must have added a little complexity to your lives, I’m sure. I might have to try the mini bird nests with my kids, they’d love it. Thank you for chiming in with your traditions, happy Easter to you!
Thank you for reading and joining the conversation. The chick thing was fascinating to 1960’s toddlers but it’s surely a bad idea for the poor little chicks. I saw something while finding the pic that said they inject it in the egg early in incubation. Then chicks are born with brightly colored feathers until they lose the baby fluff. Def a ghastly selfish practice. Allergies are imps in disguise, come to torment us. Lol. Recently found out I’m allergic to pomegranate of all things. Have an epi pen and everything. My favorite kitschy adult beverage is Bone Fish Grill’s pomegranate martini. Not any more…
Oh my, I had no idea about the chicks! That’s crazy that they inject the dye like that…. Who even came up with that idea?!?! So sorry to hear about your newfound allergy and inability to quaff your favorite martini. 😭
Thanks for a glimpse at someone else’s nostalgia. How fortunate we are that, for us, nostalgia conjures up good and pleasant moments and memories. Helps me maintain some kind of perspective to realize that if I live long enough, today’s experiences will become tomorrow’s nostalgia.
On a side note We had a bunch that were not good they were cracked and the color was not good .My dad said Paul Newman the actor could eat fifty hard boiled eggs so my sister and myself thought we could that .We only made to twelve it was fun trying
Not just for the memories (though they shimmered), but for the quiet magic of transmission. The egg dye creeping up paper? Literal poetry of resurrection.
There’s something sacred in how you made nostalgia feel like a current, not a retreat. A current we can still ride, with jellybeans, maraschino cherries, and barefoot children chasing dyed hope.
Your life was like mine with the ham/cloves, red beet eggs… you would have fit right in with my 11 siblings at the Easter Sunday ham dinner. Thank you for the memories and Happy Easter!
What a wonderful pair of tributes to Easters past! I want you to know that black licorice jellybeans were HUGE in our Easters! I’m a big fan of black licorice to this day (and it’s been a lot of years since our Dad made sure we had plenty of those black jellybeans!) Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Thank you, Cori! This collaboration has been such a joy and it turned out so beautifully. I love your piece, I can just imagine your grandmother’s loving hands and your son’s angry squalling, too! The pictures are priceless, how sweet you all looked. Traditions are such a beautiful tie to our earlier selves and a gift to the next generation. Thank you again my friend, I’ve really enjoyed this whole experience ❤️
What a lovely collab this was! Jenn, I love this:

This was fantastic! Well done to you both! It took me back to the days of old, both as a child and a mom 💕🐣 ✝️ 🪺🐰

Thank you for sharing this. I wasn’t generally aware of all the other Holy Week goings on. I will be from now on though.🙏✨
I wasn’t either!
Thank you. Happy you liked it🤭

Oh I love pomegranate. Glad I’m not allergic to that!
Lovely thoughts of nostalgia Jenn and Cori! 😊❤️😊
Thank you, Charlotte. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Have a happy Easter! ❤️✨

That’s such a lovely thought, thank you for sharing that perspective. I’m going to hang on to that.
Thank you for joining the conversation Charles. That’s exactly how I see it too. At some point todays ‘madness’ will be fond memories for many. 🎉⚡️

Thank you for sharing your memory! 50 eggs?! I’m very impressed you made it to 12. That took some determination. I hope you have a beautiful Easter. 💕
Ouch that might bother my wimpy stomach but it would sure be fun trying! Thank you for joining the chatter🫠✨
Oof, me too!
Oh wow, Cori & Jenn – this glowed.

Thank you, Dea, for the thoughtful response! I love the way you put it; like a current we can still ride. Very apropos ✨
What wonderful things you’ve said. 🤭We’re happy it resonates so positively with you. We all need more positive vibes✌️🎉

Hey stranger! Good hearing from a fellow Pennsylvanian with grit!✌️😊

Thank you, Rose! I never could stomach those black licorice ones, but my dad liked them and I always gave him mine.
Thank you we’re so happy you like our post. The little things and little memories keep our hearts out of trouble nowadays.
I love that ❤️
