A whole list of “wows” and “yeah I remember thats” or “how do the little bastards survive today - we did this and turned out fine” moments. Blockbuster, hot cars with 4-30 air conditioning (4 windows open going 30 mph for those who don’t know), the clothes, crazy music, family trips, the whole shebang.

Yep, life was pretty damn good then ! What the hell happened ???

We sure lost site of the simplicity and the fun

You forgot the "monkey bars". Ours were steel pipe held together with clamps. We also had a pole with chains on it with handles. You just ran in a circle and hoped the piece at the top would keep going around the pole and not lock up. Oh, yea recess was a time you would go outside to play then head to the nurse's office to fix you skinned elbows, arms, legs and also foreheads.

I think Abby‘s pizza in Oregon had them too when I was kid. I think at the time they were kind of high-tech. I think they were popular with restaurants because they were durable plastic but felt more like a glass. Plastics were really hitting their stride back then. Remember Tupperware?

They were def a popular item. Tupperware is still around. I have my mother in laws pie keeper circa older than 50. Lol

For awhile it seemed like the 80’s weee the rage. People like to feel nostalgic I think because it’s comforting. Now I think maybe the 70’s could have a comeback of their own.

Fantastic! I felt I could see myself in some of those pictures, for sure!

Thank you. It’s reassuring to me that we’re finding humor and connections across the generations. I hope no one follows California’s legislation against memes.

Expand full comment

I hope nobody follows California’s anything. How did those fools in California not recall Newsome when they had the chance ? Why did they elect him in the first place ? Wonder how they’re really feeling now.

Expand full comment

True, but they never had a chance. The “elections” are a sham and don’t reflect reality.

Expand full comment

I don’t get it either. Newsome is such a fascist POS! My girlfriend grew up in the Bay Area and she HATES him! We were living in AZ and it was pretty free there, only Costco would make you wear stupid masks. Meanwhile, Newsom was locking everyone down and destroying their businesses while eating $400 soup. What an arrogant jerk! My girlfriend is so red pilled now! We are both very anti Covid vaccines. Her family in SF think we are nuts for not getting vaccinated, but neither of us has had Covid and they are sick all the time. 🤣I’m from Oregon and it’s been ruined by Liberals. Now, we are in Northeast California. Neither of us expected to come to California, but Northeast California is California NOT! It’s like Eastern Oregon or Nevada. They don’t like Newsom, Biden, or Kamala. This is the Independent State of Jefferson.

This trend to blocking free speech is illegal and the one concern we should all be pushing against is the tendency of our elected and appointed officials to do what they please with the help of three-letter agencies because common citizens cannot afford to take them all the way to the Supreme Court to overturn their miscarriage of justice.

Wow yeah!!! Some of those are USA only, but most of them are 100% perfect for my childhood in Australia. When playground equipment became "safe" the world became boring.

And dumb.

Sigh.

Totally agree with that ‘safe’ but dumb! No oppty for coping skills

Expand full comment

Exactly!! I’m all in favour of sensible health and safety, but the world is fundamentally not a “safe” place. A certain amount of risk is inevitable. trying to remove ALL risk is futile, and beyond a certain point it also makes life boring…. :)

Ahhhh, yes those were the days my friend...we thought they'd never end....Loved them and this was a great stack. Thank you.

Thank you for reading and commenting. The two meme posts I published were the most popular of all mine by far. Humans are starved for humor and hope and comfort. I plan to provide more in the near future.

These are great 😂. I do remember the red cups, teeter totters, and flintstones vitamins. And good swings. The tall kind that made your stomach drop. I miss the swings!

Haha! The reason that couch was so popular is that it was awesome at camoflauging cigarette burns, and it matched the nicotine stains on the walls and ceilings.
