Canadian health care is crapola!! if you want an actual diagnosis and proper treatment you have to be rich enough to go to the USA or Europe...many Canadians will pay through the nose eyes and teeth to visit the famous mayo clinic... Really great article you guys!! Thanks for sharing your story Cori! And thank you Stone for your collaboration with Cori great read!!! 💓💓💓
Not gonna lie, lol, saying America and Europe have good/better health care is frightening. Services like Function Health fill gaps and I feel are very affordable considering my findings probably saved my life. Thanks for reading!
Too soon old, too late smart, that’s my story. What you’re describing is metabolic health, and 99% chance your doctor is 99% ignorant about it. It’s probably the major cause of our deteriorating health and it’s unknown or dismissed by the VAST majority of allopathic medicine doctors (MD’s). They don’t care about A1C until it’s so bad they can diagnose type 2 diabetes and then prescribe a pill. Mention insulin resistance (primary cause of kidney failure) to your doc and they look at you with a blank stare. Please latch onto this important topic and keep giving it your attention. There’s an abundance of great credible information about diet and health.
I’ve found this to be true. My next post in this mini series will be about bite sized changes that supersize health results. But, don’t miss the hilarious memes I posted yesterday that make fun of the health, diet, and fitness phenomena. ✨
Interesting you speak of holistic medicine. My wife has always been a fan. I have enough conditions that could keep big pharma going for years. 10 different meds per day. Some I question if I need any more. I’ve become just a little discouraged with the medical industry in general, as many have. When I discussed things with my docs on the last 2 visits, I couldn’t get them to budge on any of it. I had enough and it was time to research Zocdoc. And in that research, I was looking for a doctor who was of the holistic mindset. I needed a different point of view. I had my first visit a week ago and it seemed to go well. I guess we’ll see in time if it was the right way to go. If not, I can always go back to the old way. Cori, thank you and Stone for this…it was quite well done.
I’m happy you’re getting benefits from this. What I found the most helpful was using Function Health because it was like getting two important services in one. 1. Was a greatly expanded blood panel and the other was the impartial second opinion included in the cost. That service probably saved my life. I just renewed for another year. And I hear it’s HSA eligible, although I’ve not tested that theory as we don’t have an HSA at the moment. Ten meds is a lot. I’m with you on probing that further. Don’t miss my upcoming piece about small bite sized changes that have a huge impact on health.
Moving to Central Maine a few years ago has made a world of difference to us.
It is so gratifying to locally source the majority of our food, water, services and labor from our neighbors and community.
And I always remember that though I have local medical professionals who have been stellar, that they are still influenced by things that may or may not be true and beneficial to us.
WE are our best health professionals, only augmented by the industry.
Thank you for asking me to contribute, Cori. Your story is a powerful one, and it highlights many - MANY - of the problems we have with the current 'medical' field... and how we can work around them for true health.
Thank you! It’s an important subject and holistic health is something we often take for granted. Thank you for collaborating on this! It was a privilege.
Covid caused the A-fib for sure, plus all that came after. I hadn’t even recalled the H1N1 until I sat down to write this post. The important takeaway is extra eyes keep us on our toes. The other 2 posts I have planned will round out the full story on healthy living. Thank you for reading our words🙏✌️

I couldn't agree more with your assertions.
Especially the "living local" ideas.

Very well put, Phillip - sounds like you are living the life for which I am striving.
Kudos! *salute
Thank you for reading. I’m glad you find this relatable. Love the share of your local experience too!

Thank you. Eye-opening. I have similar issues and a similar story! I truly think a recent a fib diagnosis and other problems stemmed from Covid.
Blessings from “age 68- a healthy person”…
