Thank you Jenn. It wasn't challenging to come up with this story, as it struck me while walking in those woods the Sunday before I wrote it. The story actually wrote itself in my head, but I was scared while I writing it, because I'm a scaredy-cat. LOL. Glad it got to ya and thank you for the restack.
Now that I’m thinking about it, I did write down a bad dream I had once. It was several days later because I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It made me very uncomfortable to write it out.
I seldom have nightmares...fortunately. Perhaps it is good to write out our fears and let them go...
Good writing, again, Cori!! No one wants to meet a critter like that, especially alone in the dark, in the boonies... Brrrrr..... Keep writing!!! Wendy
Thank you so much for reading, Neil. The idea for this story came to me during my last Sunday hike in those woods. I’ll have to find my pics of the stone stairwell up there to share in the comments. Here’s the gross irony. I don’t do horror. I’m a chicken shit so it scares me too much. I don’t read it I don’t watch it if someone ropes me into my eyes are closed and I’m hiding under a blanket half the time. I was a mess writing this - heart pounding and shaky- when it came pouring out in one sitting yesterday morning. I had to drink lavender tea after to calm down. 🥹 What a goof I am.
I was on the edge of my seat 😳. Horrifying! I loved it. Very well done.

That’s kind of funny that your creation scared you, I never wondered if horror writers spooked themselves.
I am not into horror as a genre. The entire time I was writing my heart was racing. It was a really interesting experience🤭

Excellent writing! (Suggest reading during the light of day!)
Scared myself writing it cause I don’t do horror because I’m a big sissy. Lol
How utterly frightening, well told! Seemed almost real! Well done Cori!
Thank you. I scared myself dreaming it up and writing it
Great ending to this series. Love the horror but you know that. Forever your younger sister😘
Love you too Sal

Thank you Wendy. I scared myself half to death writing it. I am publishing the 3 dragon stories as an anthology on Amazon shortly.
Keep going, you amazing writer, you!!!
Really great descriptions, Cori and I like the twist at the ending! Thank you for sharing.
