The newest military kid on the block is the US Space Force. Established by Congress via the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act, it was the first new branch since 1947 and is under the US Air Force. Their job is:

protecting U.S. interests in space; deterring aggression in, from, and to space; and conducting space operations, which can consist of both defensive and offensive actions. (Source Britannica)

When I heard about this I thought it was a joke; the kind that people make fun of for years to come. I guess I might be right, because the memes are classic especially when peppered with my special spicy blend of jalapeno-hot Star Wars and Spaceballs humor as well. After all, Uranus IS part of space, right?!
