I’m loving the yellow. It’s cheering me up!

I live for color! I just had my house and two bedrooms repainted. The front is relatively subdued, with a taupe base called grouchy badger and shutters in aubergine with a Japanese maple door. Until I put up the gold spray-painted gutter that had to be replaced, so why not?

But I've redone the back porch that had a ceiling in Blue Martini (matched by the grill) with one that has the rafters in red-orange, over a somewhat peachier red-orange. The arches are in plum with red-orange pillars but one face is yellow metallic gold with accents of sun-orange metallic gold.

My bedroom now has two walls of copper and one of a deep orange-rose that they can only mix in a base that leaves room for a copious amount of color--to Martha's point. The ceiling and sloped wall are a saturated white. The trim and doors are a rose-bronze metallic.

But back to yellow, of whom I am inordinately fond. I just bought a couch (really an unconstructed pile of pillows) for a little room in the garaj mahal. Although it came in a bright yellow called ginger (and why is ginger yellow, pray tell?), I thought the reddish brown would go better with the just-painted room colors. But the ginger kept haunting me. So I've decided to get it too and make this little room a cozy den--that also gives four sleeping mattresses for six twenty-somethings who'll be descending on that one-bed abode for a concert.

When my daughter wakes up, I'm going to see if she'd help put some finishing touches on all the changes. There are doors on the Shanty Shack that need that sun-gold, I think, to tie them in. Yes to yellow!!!

So much here please send pics your descriptions literally make my mouth water. Lol. And…”garaj mahal” I LOVE it! And what on earth is the Shanty Shack? I need to read more of your stuff. Have you written about all of this?!

I'm afraid my photos are only on my phone. I don't let my devices talk because they're like kindergartners and would never shut up. The Shanty Shack is really a storage shed in dolled-up colors. But I do have a 20' x 20' Coop de Ville which is bereft of chickens at the moment, and I'm really enjoying the respite from those little cluckers!

My favorite color is green. I don't know that I have a favorite shade of green, though. Probably varying shades of celery. Or grass when spring finally arrives and everything comes alive again. I am really looking forward to that.

Celery is definitely underrated! But oh, that fresh grass green! Green is also my favorite color, and I've become known for chartreuse especially with periwinkle, which were my wedding colors an age ago.

I had chartreuse in my bedroom at my prior house with a mulberry accent color called dragon fruit!

Dragonfruit! That's an excellent color!

Phew, me too! SO looking forward to grass and spring. Celery is an overlooked shade of green. I used it in my bedroom because it faces north, needing a warm color without darkening the room.
